Top Entertaining Trends for 2017

Let’s face it, 2016 left us all in the need for a little joy and entertainment in our lives. Experts are predicting that 2017 will be the biggest year this decade for the party industry as we all search for a little fun in our lives.

Penny Jackson, founder and director of myEventGenie.com gives her predictions for the top entertaining trends for 2017.

Hygge – The hygge trend is fast growing in the UK and will continue to grow more popular in 2017. Hygge, meaning cosy, is inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle of slowing down and taking stock. Imagine a party with thick fur throws, candlelight and soft music...this understated, yet simple and elegant way of catching up with friends without the distractions of technology is sure to be popular in the dark winter months.

Experiences – Delighting your guests by learning a new skill or trying something for the first time is a great ice breaker and focus for a party. After the popularity of cupcake decorating and pottery parties we’re seeing a new trend for private chef cookery classes in the home. There is also a trend of celebrity chefs and food bloggers making a party appearances by teaching and cooking for your guests. Who wouldn’t want to have Jamie Oliver host their birthday party..?!

Socially connected –As social media continues its stronghold on our society, we are seeing live streaming services become ever more popular. Instead of a photo album published after an event, party hosts are opting to stream a live broadcast for those unable to attend. This is perfect for family overseas who cannot attend a child’s birthday party. Privacy should be taken into account with this trend, but it is possible to have secure links that can only been seen by family members with a password.

Alcohol free venues – More and more 20 and 30 something’s are becoming teetotal as a health choice. This brings an opportunity to be more creative with your party venue if you are looking for somewhere without a license. More adventurous venues include trampoline parks, outdoor cinemas and alcohol free discos. Pass the elderflower cordial........

As with all trends, they come and go, but there’s one element that should be a constant…when it comes to parties and using event suppliers, it is vital to ensure that references and backgrounds are thoroughly checked.

That’s where myEventGenie.com can help you in 2017. We thoroughly vet all our suppliers, giving you the security and peace of mind to work with some of the best experts in the industry!
