Weddings on a Shoestring

  • What makes a wedding day special? You and your husband-to-be!
  • Weddings are generally happy occasions and a wonderful opportunity to get friends and relations together but It is the personal touches that will make your wedding individual to you and make it your own special occasion.
  • There are always so many things to plan, organize and co-ordinate with a wedding and deciding and managing your budget is key. It is very easy to make costly mistakes, particularly with last minute details and decisions so planning from the outset is essential.
  • You will want your Wedding Day to be the “Day of your Dreams”. And so it should be. Getting Married does not have to be expensive…how you actually go about it can be! Your wedding should be both a joyous occasion and an affordable event.
  • It doesn’t matter how large or small your budget, the main thing is that you have one and it’s what you do with it that’s important. No one wants to waste money, and saving money does not mean you have to compromise on quality either. Creativity, Imagination and “Know-how” in all the right areas will help you achieve your own great event that will be talked about for years to come.
  • Do you have to get married in a castle – absolutely not! There is a degree of competitiveness surrounding weddings particularly with friends of a similar age often getting married within a similar time-frame and trying to out-do each other. A wedding is about you and your husband-to-be so make the day about you and what you want.
  • With social media, the bridal glossies, the plethora of bridal shows and the commercial aspect associated with weddings it is tricky not to get side-tracked and tempted and suddenly believe you need something and positively have to have it. The likelihood is that if it’s not in your original plan and budget, you probably don’t need it at all.
  • Put the blinkers on and decide how YOU want your wedding day to be. The best situation is not to get into debt unless you really do have the means to pay it off easily. The last thing you want to do is start married life wondering where the next penny is coming from and regretting the money you spent on your wedding day. Your memories are precious and need to stay that way!
  • In reality, all weddings are bespoke. All brides-to-be have their own individual requirements and their own thoughts as to what they want for their wedding day. You just need to translate your thoughts into reality in a practical and decisive manner.
  • Perhaps you are struggling to decide what you do want or even where to begin? Weddings come in all shapes and sizes and no two are the same. You might be thinking Traditional, Contemporary, Vintage or specifically Themed Wedding for example. You might be a young bride or a more mature bride. Whatever your age or the type of wedding you fancy, your day should be individual and personal to you, your Groom and your family and friends.
  • Whilst it is a privilege for any supplier to be involved in such a family orientated event as a wedding, nothing makes a wedding more personal than involving family and friends in the preparations. Utilize talents close to home and don’t be afraid to delegate. The majority of people are flattered to be asked to contribute to such an important occasion, in whatever capacity.
  • There are many under-utilized venues suitable for a wedding reception that are cheap to hire and with a little bit of imagination and once all your decorations are in place, they are easily transformed into something magical, wonderful and very personal.
  • myEventGenie.com will help you determine and apportion your budget. You can ask suppliers to quote and you can compare prices and choose the suppliers you want to work with. The planning tools will help you stay organized and on track from the start of the preparations to the celebration of your special day.

Personalize it and make it…Your Day!
